About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

Here's the deal, St John cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. St John Lutheran Church is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.

Where we come from

St John Evangelical Lutheran Church was started in 1966 by a few local families. Back then, these pioneering Christians imagined a church that would proclaim the Good News about Jesus all over the Mohave Valley. The congregation was chartered in1974 as member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The original chapel was at Davis Camp, just down river from the Davis Dam, and the current campus at 1664 Central Ave was built in 1980, expanded in 1989, and expanded again in 2014.

Where we're headed

What's the bottom line? More than ever, St John is committed to fostering a family built around God’s love. Love for the world, love for our neighbors, and love for each other. Hope for the future. Hope for better. Hope for progress. Hope in Jesus. And as we move forward as a church family, we seek to connect people to Jesus. We are hooked on Jesus; hooked by His love, hooked through His Word, and hooked into His mission.
